Floratam
Floratam is the most popular variety of grass in Florida. This all-round favorite thrives in direct sunlight and provides an attractive, lush, blue-green lawn. Throughout the state of Florida, this is one of only two varieties that show some resistance to chinch bugs. Floratam has a dense, moderately coarse blade.
Palmetto
Palmetto is a native St. Augustine cultivar selected for better color and finer texture. Palmetto St. Augustine demonstrates superior shade, cold, frost, heat, and drought tolerance. Seville
Seville is a semi-dwarf St Augustine grass used in residential lawns throughout the southeastern United States. Seville has excellent compact horizontal growth due to its semi-dwarf composition, and it requires less mowing than most grasses. Its uniform texture, rich dark-green color and shorter, narrower leaf blade give it a distinctive plush appearance. Seville has proven to be one of the highest-ranked, shade-tolerant St. Augustine grasses, yet does well in full sun. Seville has excellent cold tolerance with good color retention and spring green-up under moderate fertilization.
Sapphire
Sapphire St. Augustine is an attractive turfgrass with a fast horizontal growth habit, purple in color and long leaf blade that is highly infolded in mature turf, giving the grass a fine-leaf appearance. Sapphire has a pleasing deep blue-green color, and has good color retention, even under low fertility conditions. Sapphire tolerates salt, shade, and drought. Sapphire is an excellent choice for a homeowner’s grass, due to improved wear recovery, and reduced weed problems.
Captiva
Captiva St. Augustine is the first St. Augustine grass since Floratam to resist all chinch bugs found in the state of FL. With a deep, dark green color, Captiva has exceptional beauty, a slow rate of vertical growth which means less mowing for the end-user. Captiva was shorter at 21 days of growth than Floratam was at 7 days. Captiva's dense canopy and deep root system make it a hardy turf grass that will be a viable performer in the landscape for many years to come.
