At Action Sod there are many different types of sods...
Our biggest sellers are FLORATAM and PALMETTO based on most appropriate for the Miami area. Palmetto is slightly more expensive as it is more shade tolerant. Floratam is a good basic yard grass that is great for most applications.
Occasionally, there are areas which need less appealing grass and we offer BAHIA which is the sod of choice for areas such as highways, etc.
We offer specialty sods for the discriminating customer who wants just the perfect grass for the golf course or the viewing garden. We can get almost any sod on the market, but we don’t stock these. There needs to be a lead time given for special order sod as we have to arrange for pickup. Specialty grasses come in once very week on Thursday or Friday, the last date to order these is Wednesday before 10AM and you can receive no later than that same Friday. Of course, we do make exceptions for special occasions and / or large orders.
As with any live product, sod is available based on weather and growing conditions. We make every possible effort to stock both floratam and palmetto every day, but sod isn’t cut during the rain. This adds to our delivery time, but not significantly.
We are proud to offer "environmentally friendly" grasses!
Our mission is to bring our specialty warm-season turf grasses to the public with an eye toward sustainability, ecology, and beauty. We work with University turf programs and independent researchers world-wide to develop grasses that will help sustain the environment, reduce the amount of water used for turfgrass irrigation, and curb the amount of chemicals and fertilizers released into the ecosystem while also creating an aesthetically pleasing landscape. Depending on variety, the grasses may be shade-tolerant, require less water, less fertilizer or less inputs overall than other common lawn grasses. We here at Environmental Turf are proud to license our proprietary turf grasses to some of the world's finest sod producers in warm-season climates around the globe.
