BROMELIAD

  • Light:
☀️ Bright, indirect light. Bromeliads thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. They can tolerate lower light conditions, but their growth and flowering may be reduced. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch their leaves.

    Water:
💧 Keep the central rosette (the "cup" in the middle of the plant) filled with water. Change the water every 1-2 weeks to prevent stagnation. Water the soil lightly and allow it to dry out between waterings. Bromeliads prefer to be watered from the top rather than the roots, as they’re more adapted to absorb water from rainfall in their natural habitats.

    Soil:
🌱 Well-draining, light, and slightly acidic soil. Bromeliads do well in a general potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark for extra drainage. Avoid dense, moisture-retaining soils, as they can lead to root rot.

    Temperature:
🌡️ Prefers warm temperatures between 65°F and 75°F (18°C - 24°C). Bromeliads are sensitive to cold and should be kept away from drafts or temperatures below 50°F (10°C). They thrive in tropical and subtropical conditions.

    Humidity:
💦 Moderate to high humidity is ideal. Bromeliads do well in humid environments, such as bathrooms or kitchens, and benefit from occasional misting or placement on a humidity tray.

    Fertilizer:
🌼 Feed lightly with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Too much fertilizer can harm the plant, so be cautious and use only a small amount.

    Pruning:
✂️ Remove dead or spent flowers to maintain the plant’s appearance. Once the flower fades, the plant will begin to die, but it will often produce "pups" (small offshoots) that can be separated and grown into new plants.
