CHENILLE

  • Light:
☀️ Bright, indirect light. Chenille Plant thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate some direct sunlight, too much can scorch its leaves. If grown indoors, place it near a window with filtered sunlight. Outdoors, it prefers a location with partial shade to full sun.

    Water:
💧 Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the plant sit in waterlogged soil, as this can cause root rot. During the growing season (spring and summer), it will need more frequent watering. In winter, reduce watering slightly.

    Soil:
🌱 Well-draining, rich soil. Chenille Plant prefers slightly acidic, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. A standard potting mix with added perlite or sand for better drainage will work well for this plant.

    Temperature:
🌡️ Warm temperatures between 65°F and 75°F (18°C - 24°C). Chenille Plant is not frost-tolerant and should be kept in temperatures above 50°F (10°C). It is best suited for USDA zones 10-11, or it can be grown as a houseplant in colder climates.

    Humidity:
💦 Moderate to high humidity. Chenille Plant thrives in humid environments. If grown indoors, placing the plant on a humidity tray or occasionally misting it can help maintain the necessary moisture levels in the air.

    Fertilizer:
🌼 Fertilize monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Avoid fertilizing during the winter months when the plant’s growth slows down. Over-fertilizing can lead to excessive growth and reduced flowering.

    Pruning:
✂️ Prune back after flowering to maintain the plant’s shape and to encourage new growth. Regular pruning also helps to prevent the plant from becoming leggy. Remove any dead or damaged leaves and stems to keep it tidy.

    Flowers:
🌸 Chenille Plant produces unique, long, fuzzy, red or pink flowers that resemble a chenille fabric, which is how it got its name. These flowers bloom during the warmer months, adding a dramatic effect to your garden or indoor space.
